Wow Chongqing has been years in the making. Founder Jojo began her days teaching Mandarin to the expat community, a job that led to her meeting foreign visitors from all over the world. In the process, she discovered that they all knew very little about the city she called home – something she knew needed to change!
There is an idea that, after China’s rapid urbanization, many large cities all look and feel the same. It has become our mission to dispel this myth and show the uniqueness of the place we know best – Chongqing!
The distinctive landscape of Chongqing, known as the mountain city, gives it a very real 3D feel – built around the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, the city is a maze of bridges, roads, alleys, nooks and crannies that stretch from the ground under your feet to way overhead.
As the provisional capital of China during World War II, Chongqing also has an irreplaceable historical position within China – a story told through food, architecture and legend.
Jojo and the team at Wow Chongqing hope to share the story of this truly special place with the world.
Oftentimes when discovering new destinations, travellers are herded into tourist traps or given a watered-down experience. Our commitment to authenticity simply won’t allow us to do that – we are passionate about showing the true, unfiltered nature of Chongqing.
